Jessica Winchester jumped out of a portal and into a forest. She smiled as she looked around; it was the capital of the Fairealm. She hadn’t been to any other places there yet since there was still much she wanted to learn. She’d made a few friends there too and stopped by fairly regularly to chat with them. Stella smiled at her “Hey there Jess!”
“Hiya Stella!”

Grom was leaning against a branch that had grown to act as a handrail. “What’s with the hat?” He asked.
Jessica smiled; she was wearing a Santa hat because it was nearly Christmas day. “It’s a Santa hat!”
“Santa?” Stella asked with a strange expression.
Next to speak was Leo; he’d asked Jessica for some books about her Realm so that he could learn a thing or two about humans. “Santa Claus is some kind of deity, from what I understand. He is a fearsome beast with claws, hence the name. Those who worship him earn his favour and he rewards them with gifts. Those who he doesn’t approve of receive coal, which I assume is something bad.”
Jessica cracked up laughing as Grom’s eyes lit up. “A fearsome beast? I’m keen to take him down!”

“No! You’ve got it all wrong! Santa is a made up thing. You basically bribe little kids to be good all year round so that Santa will bring them presents.”
Stella was still confused. “But he’s not real?”
“Oh he's totally real!”
"I have to go to your Realm and see this! It sounds fun.”
“Totally! But I’m still struggling with opening portals. Anything bigger than my size leaves me exhausted.”

Grom had grown bored of the conversation. “Well, I’m going to go check a few of those portal sites and see if anything has come through lately. I think the Winged Warden mentioned something about a group of creatures coming through.”
Stella sighed; Grom was always looking to train in combat. “You’ll get yourself killed if you go alone!”
Grom grinned as he pictured a dragon or some other large creature. “Probably. But it won’t be today” He said as he flew off to leave the village.
Stella looked at Leo, “Go with him, would you?” Leo nodded and left; someone had to watch Grom's back.

Jessica gave Stella a hug before opening up another portal. Before she could jump through, Stella called out “The Winged Warden will be very angry if he ever meets you!”
Jessica had no clue who that was, having never heard of him before. “Then I’d better not meet him!” She called back before jumping through the portal and out the other side.

Jessica heard the sound of seagulls squawking as she came out of the portal and into Peka. She looked around and groaned. She had arrived in the right place, but there was a problem. The portals that Jess used to jump between Realms were scattered all around. For some reason, it seemed like people built structures on them or nearby. The people of Peka had placed a big copper statue near this one. It was a fish that was caught in a net and somehow Jessica had managed to get caught in it too.

She struggled slightly but realised she was stuck. Her wings were trapped by different parts of the net and she was unable to move them. She sighed; she’d worn her Wisp costume and had arrived at night, planning to surprise Lily by showing up to help her stop some crime. But now she was stuck up the statue.

Lily Lyon, the Fastest Girl in the World, was facing someone in an alley. He was a member of the Red Snakes; they were a gang in Peka but they weren’t really important enough for Rush to consider them a serious threat. Even so, they were useful for honing her skills and reminding criminals that Rush protected the city.

“You can’t run and you can’t hide! If you surrender now I’ll tell Detective Woo that you cooperated. The man turned and ran; Rush couldn’t help but laugh as he scaled the chain-link fence and dropped to the other side. Before the man could utter any word, Rush had given chase, scaled the fence and blocked the man off again. “Not very bright are you? Hello there! Fastest girl in the world. You can’t outrun me; I outran one of your cars last week and that was when it was in the back of a plane! But feel free to climb the fence again.”

The man decided to fight; he swung a fist at Rush. The heroine would have seen it coming a mile away even without her speed; she ducked out of the way before replying with a fist of her own. The man crumpled into a heap and Rush smiled, hoisted him over her shoulder and ran to the police station to drop him off. As she was leaving, a voice came over her ear piece; Billy Smith, her confidant and support team.

“Lily, there’s something happening to that statue.”
“What? Is it moving or something? Come alive?”
“I’m hacked into various cameras throughout the city to monitor crime. I’m looking at one now and there seems to be something up with the statue. I’m not sure what’s happening; it could be an attempt to steal some of the metal?”
“I’ll check it out.” Rush replied before speeding off towards the statue, jumping over a car’s bonnet as she went.

Rush arrived at the statue, skidding to a halt. She looked up at the statue, expecting to see some Red Snake members trying to cut away chunks of the statue, again. Instead, she saw Wisp tangled in the copper net of the statue. Rush burst out laughing. Billy’s voice came over the ear piece, “Lily? Is something wrong? What’s happening? The camera can’t get a proper view.”

Rush laughed a little longer before catching her breath, the whole time Wisp just lay on top of the fish, unable to get free. Rush answered Billy “Oh it’s nothing to worry about, just Jessie caught in the statue. I’m going to take a couple pictures and then help her out.”

Rush darted up and scaled the statue, “Hey there Wisp!”
“Rush! Hey there, could you help me out?”
“What happened?”
“I got stuck.”
“I can see that! I mean, how?”
“Remember how I left Peka by opening a portal last time? Well I arrived using one too. The portal is near this statue and it just so happened that this time it opened right between the fish and the net. I came out, my wings got stuck in the net and I can’t get free.”

“Can’t you just open a new portal?”
“Not with my wings being stuck. Can you help?”
Rush chuckled, “Sure. But you owe me one.” Rush grabbed Wisp’s wings and guided them out of the netting. The second they were free, Wisp began to glow and she shrunk before flying down to the ground and growing again.

“I was going to surprise you by appearing and helping out with the crime fighting; that didn’t really go so well.”
“Not a problem, it was still a surprise. I’m just about done for the night anyway. Wanna crash at mine?”
“Sure!”

Lily and Jess changed out of their costumes and made their way to Lily’s house. “Hey Mum! This is Jessica; she’s a friend of mine. Is it ok if she stays the night?”
“Sure thing. Dinner’s nearly ready.”

The following morning Lily woke up and glanced at her clock; it was nine in the morning. Jessica was still fast asleep, and snoring loudly, so Lily decided she’d go for a run. Billy had suggested doing a couple laps round Peka each morning to check how her speed was going; if she was improving, staying consistent or even getting slower. He felt, for a heroine who relies on using speed, this was a very important thing to consider. And with the fact she'd get no more sleep now, she figured she'd try it.

When she returned, Jessica was still sleeping. In fact, her fairy friend didn’t wake up until ten. “Good afternoon sleepyhead,” Rush said cheerfully.
Jessica just yawned and stretched her arms as she got up. “So, I was thinking we could go shopping! It’s Christmas and I’ve not been to the mall here in Peka. What do you think?”
“Great idea! I’ll invite Billy.” Lily answered with a smile.

Billy, Lily and Jessica entered the mall. Each had a shop that they wanted to visit for some reason or another; Billy wanted to check out the latest developments when it came to computers, Lily wasn’t looking for anything in particular; she’d browse but her main plan was to show Jessica around while she looked for a book

Unfortunately, their shopping trip was interrupted when the trio heard the sound of a gunshot echoing in the mall. The two heroines nodded at each other before changing into their crime fighting costumes, though Wisp still had the Santa hat on her head that she had been wearing.

The heroines quickly located the gunman; he was trying to steal valuables, knowing that people were buying gifts for their loved ones. He had his gun aimed at a group of shoppers who were too stunned to drop their purchases. Their refusal to comply, coupled with the arrival of the two heroines, caused the man to fire off a series of shots.

Rush and Wisp knew what to do, they’d had a few experiences working together in the past. Rush surged forwards, the innocent bystanders were her priority. The bullets flew through the air but they weren’t as fast as Rush. She caught up to them and plucked them from the air as they drew closer to their targets.

The shoppers were speechless as the bullets fell harmlessly to the floor, they all knew that Rush had saved them. The gunman was preparing to shoot again, having chosen Rush as his next target. He didn’t see the fairy clench her hand into a fist but he did see the ice encase his gun. Before he had the chance to pull the trigger, the frost spread to his hand, sealing it as well so he couldn’t fire the gun. Before he knew it, only his head was out of the ice.

“It’s Christmas; you need to chill out!” Rush gloated.
“Well I think he’s definitely on the naughty list this year!” Wisp added. The two heroines saw a reporter with a camera and decided to strike a pose, knowing they’d be in the newspaper. They crossed their arms and stood back to back while smiling happily; the crowd cheered.

“You two were phenomenal! Thank you so much for saving everyone. I own that store over there,” the man said as he pointed, “To thank the pair of you, we’d like to offer you a fifty percent discount on anything storewide.”
The heroines decided that they’d stop by to have a look since the discount was too good to refuse. They followed the man into the store and began to look around.

“This is a new product. We’ve got a couple for display at the moment while our supplier responds to customer feedback to improve the comfort and feel. Perhaps you’d be interested in taking a look?” The man asked as he held up a couple pairs of sunglasses.
“Sure!” Rush and Wisp replied as they accepted the glasses; Rush turned away as she removed her goggles, not wanting to reveal her secret identity to the man.
“They have a strap at the back to make sure that they won’t fall off if you’re moving around a lot. You can always just undo it or remove it if you’d rather treat them like normal sunglasses,” the man explained as the heroines put them on.

What they didn’t expect was for the strap to automatically fasten and refuse to come off. As soon as the glasses were on, a spiral appeared right before their eyes. The heroines knew that they couldn't remove the glasses and easily figured out what the spirals were for. They both closed their eyes, intending to avoid seeing it. For a second it seemed to work; until the glasses delivered a slight shock which forced their eyes open again. They quickly learned that closing their eyes was met with a stronger and stronger shock each time. The heroines soon felt the tension leave their bodies as their arms hung limply by their sides. They had slipped into the kind of sleep that only comes during hypnosis.

“Ladies and gentlemen! After they saved the mall from the gunman, I spoke to Rush and Wisp and asked if they’d do a little promotion for my store. They agreed! I hope you’re ready for a show you’ll never forget!” The crowd cheered as they waited for the heroines to walk out; there was a stage that was used for press conferences and other events that provided the perfect platform.

The girls wore matching costumes; a ‘sexy’ Santa dress that barely reached below the waist. The hem of the dress was white trim, just like the top of the dress, which barely covered the heroines’ breasts The man behind the show was clearly going for the old saying ‘sex sells.’ The dress had long sleeves; the cuffs were also white trim. A Santa hat on top of their heads and a pair of Mary Janes on their feet. To finish the look, each girl wore white, thigh high stockings with a cute red bow at the top of each.

The music began playing and the two heroines began to sway to the beat. “Santa baby, slip a sable under the tree, for me.” Wisp and Rush were singing in unison and performing a dance routine, including holding the hem of the skirt, teasing they'd lift it, but never actually doing so. Due to the hypnosis, they were perfectly synchronised, as though they’d practiced countless times beforehand.

“A fifty four convertible too. Light blue” the heroines sung; the Santa hats they wore included a microphone on the ball at the end of them. The hats were positioned in such a way that the ball at the end hung down near the girls’ cheeks, allowing their voices to be played over a speaker.

“Think of the fun I’ve missed. Think of all the fellas that I haven’t kissed.” As the hypnotised heroines mentioned kissing, they leaned forward, bending at the hips, and blew a kiss to the audience, while their other hand glided over their bodies, inches from their breasts. The crowd cheered in response and continued to film them.

“I want a yacht and really that’s not a lot. Been an angel all year.” When pointing out how nice they’d been all year, their hands closed in front of them like they were in prayer; Wisp allowed her wings to flutter to show the similarity she shared with an angel. Rush, meanwhile, gave a wink to the people closest to the stage.

“Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing,” the heroines held a finger to their lips and adopted a sheepish look. “A ring.” Rush and Wisp mimed holding a phone up to their ears. “I don’t mean on the phone.” Both heroines shook their heads and made an ‘x’ with their arms before pointing at their ring finger and nodding. “Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight. Hurry down the chimney tonight.”

Their duet finished, the heroines took a bow and hugged each other before heading off. They got changed and left the store, with no memory of what they’d done. “Hey Jess, what’s with the crowd?”
“No idea! Wanna check it out?”
The girls walked forward, eager to see what was happening. There was nobody on the stage but the crowd were chatting excitedly. “I think we missed it.”

Billy walked over. “There you are! Come with me.” Billy dragged them away from the crowd to an area where there were fewer people. “I couldn’t find you after you stopped that guy with the gun.”
“Sorry about that,” Wisp answered.
“But we don’t know what happened either,” Rush added.

Both girls noticed the smirk on Billy’s face. “What is it? You know something, don’t you?”
Billy nodded and got his phone. “That’s what the crowd was for; the two of you were singing in, uh, a couple sexy outfits.”
Billy showed his friends the video and watched as their mouths hung open the whole time. “Hypnotised again?” Lily complained.
“Yeah, but at least we look good!” Jess added happily, "I wonder if I can keep the outfit."
“Billy, are you going to delete that video?” Lily asked hopefully.
“I already uploaded it. Everyone was filming it so I figured I’d get the best quality recording and get the most views."
“Isn’t that a little mercenary?”
"
It’s on the official Rush YouTube, we get to paint it like you meant to do that. I’ve called it a treat, with her friend, for her fans.”

“For her fans and their dads,” Wisp corrected with a giggle as she read the description.
Billy looked a little sheepish, "Yeah, I'm sure their dads will like it too. Rush is looking good, and you had that angel part nailed! If you were smaller you'd make a great Christmas tree ornament." Billy joked.
Wisp blushed, remember a recent incident, and quickly changed the subject, “I need an official account too, so I can comment.”
“What would you say, complain about how we’re being exploited, and how you never gave your permission?”
"
I was thinking I’d just say ‘Merry Christmas!’”
Rush’s scowl cracked as she and Billy began giggling along with Wisp.

Merry Wispmas! Here's the second story I did for the Holiday season. I won't be doing a third one this year though. The idea for this came while chatting to :iconphantasam114: and asking for a song the two heroines could sing. He suggested Santa Baby as "that's pretty sexy" (His words). As it happens, the song was playing on one of our Christmas albums at home. I thought it sounded good and needed a costume change or two.

Wisp is my OC
Rush and Billy are both OC's of :iconphantasam114: and his stories are quite good :) (Check them out)

Thanks to :iconphantasam114: for proofreading and for helping me with the ending/writing it since I was stuck

Fun, fun, FUN! A great Christmas tale for the Wisp mythos. A few comments (and, amazingly, only a few):

* Love how Grom's impression of Santa is formed by "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and the story of Sandy Claws (heh);
* Humor: why is it that villainous thugs always think they can punch the Flash or Superman or Supergirl...and now, Rush? Duh.HELLO, super speed, people!
* Before arriving at Lily's house...dare I ask: where DO superheorines change out of their costumes in a non-conspicuous way? Are telephone booths sill around in Peka?
* Jessica SNORES! And is a lazy bones! Love it!
* Nice trick with the bullets and Rush.
* Jess gets a break: posing for the photographer with Rush...and the crowd supports them with cheering enthusiastically! This could be a sub-theme for future stories: Wisp gets no respect in Jupiter City (remembering the harsh news coverage and "up skirt" shot from a few stories back), but is welcomed in other cities. Or maybe it's just because she has good chemistry with Rush...
* Speaking of "shipping": any chance for a Billy/Jessica pair up? Could alter the dynamic between Jess and Alex...and Jess and Lily.

* And then it all "turns": the crowd cheers...but for potentially humiliating reasons. Ad yet, the girls take the whole incident in stride (I was sort of surprised with this take on events and others have noted the same above; a younger Wisp may have smacked the storekeeper for taking advantage of her...and here's to hoping he does not take up a life of crime with those goggles....).
* Ah. "Santa Baby"...always a sexy song with fun innuendo...especially with the girls playfully teasing the crowd....
* "Hypnotized again?" complained Lily - THAT comment brought a laugh.
* The theme of this story: innocence and fun triumphs once again!

OK, all for now. Good work, Jess! And Merry Christmas!
